KARACHI: Pakistan Coast Guards have seized a huge cache of smuggled alcohol worth Rs 22 million.

According to details, a team of the Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG), during a snap-checking at Lyari Coastal Highway (Balochistan), recovered 1993 bottles of foreign liquor of different brands including Cattos, Black Label, Red Label, Chivas, Grant’s and others from a truck.

The PCG spokesman said that the liquor bottles were conceal in old newspapers and the smugglers tried to smuggle the consignment to other parts of the country.

He further said that the authorities concerned of Pakistan Coast Guard (PCG) have taken the driver, truck and smuggled consignment into custody and started further investigation.

The spokesman further revealed that the market value of confiscated consignment was estimated amounting to Rs22 million.
