Pakistan Customs celebrates ICD 2018 with great zeal

KARACHI: Pakistan Customs celebrated International Customs Day (ICD) 2018 with great zeal for which a grand ceremony was held at Old Customs house, Eduljee Dinshaw Road Karachi.

According to the details, the International Customs Day (ICD) a ceremony was arranged by the Pakistan Customs which started with the flag hosting. The chief guest of the event Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair accompanied with Chief Collector Customs Enforcement Manzoor Hussain Memon hosted the flag at the ceremony.

During the flag host ceremony Pakistan Customs Officer presented the salute and students of the Pakistan Customs sang the national song. The players of the Pakistan Customs who won the gold medals in international marshal arts were given the medals along with other customs team on their best performance. Ambassadors of several countries, officials of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), coast guard as well as Airport Security Force (ASF) were also present.

The Collector Customs Dr Iftikhar Ahmed delivered the welcomed speech to the guest present at the ceremony after which the officer and the staff were presented shields and certificated in the Old Customs House Auditorium.

During the ceremony the chief guest of the event Governor Sindh Muhammas Zubair in his address stated that for the revenue collection and better economy Pakistan Customs is the back bone and the officers as well as the staff of the Pakistan Customs are playing their due role at the airports, sea ports and the internal/external routes. He said that the theme “Secure Business for Economic Development” at the International Customs Day is very important.

Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair also hailed the performance of the Pakistan Customs with regards to proving International payers and for the promotion of different games in which several players won gold medals for the country.

Another ceremony with regards to International Customs Day 2018 was held at Maripur where huge quantities of contraband goods as well as narcotics were destructed. As per details shared by the Pakistan Customs 33 thousand and 226 liquor bottles, 20 thousand 796 Beer box, 6 thousand 508 Chars, 1.5 Kilograms of Heroin and several thousand kilograms of Indian Gutkka were set on fire which worth billions of rupees in the international market.
