Pakistan Customs foils bid to smuggle foreign currency worth Rs5.45m to Dubai

MULTAN: In a successful operation, the Pakistan Customs team deputed at Multan International Airport thwarted a currency smuggling attempt and arrested a passenger attempting to transport a significant amount of foreign currency to Dubai.

According to Customs officials, the arrested individual, identified as Muhammad Yar, son of Ahmed Bakhash, a resident of Basti Rangpur Kherra, Muzaffargarh, was caught red-handed while trying to smuggle foreign currency out of the country.

During the operation, the Customs team recovered 18,000 Saudi Riyals, 2,915 UAE Dirhams, 2,538 Omani Riyals, and 2,840 Pakistani Rupees, amounting to a total value of approximately Rs5.45 million.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Collector Airports Punjab, Tayyeba Kayani, with Deputy Collector Ahmed Zaheer leading the team.

 The officials were lauded for their vigilance and swift action in preventing the illegal transportation of currency.
