KARACHI: Pakistan Customs and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at introducing automated Courier Clearance Module through Web Based One Customs (WeBOC).
The Directorate of Reforms and Automation director, Majid Yousfani confirmed that IATA Director would reach Pakistan from Geneva in August, 2015 to sign an agreement with the Pakistan Customs for introducing module in the customs.
According to official sources, presently the courier service providers including DHL, TCS, Fedex used to submit electronic manifest.
However, after agreement with the IATA, the cargo whatever it be, would be inspected automated on WeBOC and there would be no need to make queue or run from pillar to post, sources added.
The IATA director has confirmed her arrival in the country in the mid of August and the signing of the agreement would be a landmark that would further encourage the automation of the customs procedures, sources concluded.
