KARACHI: Pakistan Customs organized an event to celebrate International Customs Day. The ceremony commenced at 9.30 a.m. Old Customs House, Edulgee Dinshaw Road, Karachi.
Syed Mohammad Tariq Huda, Member Customs Operations, Federal Board of Revenue was the chief guest on the occasion.
All officers of Pakistan Customs Service participated in the event. The proceedings started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and a welcome note by Mohammad Saqif Saeed, Collector Customs Preventive. Dr. Saifuddin Junejo Chief Collector of Customs Enforcement South touched upon the significance of the event and performance of Pakistan Customs during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Syed Mohammad Tariq Huda, Member Customs Operations, FBR heighted the extra ordinary situation and role of Pakistan Customs in this regard. He underlined the resilience displayed by officers and staff of Pakistan Customs in the discharge of their official duties. Their relentless efforts in facilitating trade has been the key factor in bolstering economic recovery and renewal of economic activity in the country.
He spotlighted the ongoing anti-smuggling drive against the smuggled POL products and illegal outlets which has been launched simultaneously in the provinces of Sind, the Punjab and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stressed that the ongoing operation is unprecedented both in the terms of scale and success.
Later, the chief guest also inspected the guard of honor given by the contingent of preventive officers and sepoys of Pakistan Customs Service and hoisted the National Flag. He also distributed WCO certificates of Merit in the acknowledgement of services rendered by different officers of Pakistan Customs.
