MULTAN, January 26: The Model Customs Collectorate Enforcement and Compliance (E&C) Multan extended its heartfelt congratulations to the Customs Administration on the occasion of World Customs Day. The event celebrated the vital role Customs plays in securing borders, fostering trade, and bolstering national revenue.
Multan Customs Collector Muhammad Farrukh Sharif Cheema highlighted the transformative approach to business operations, as promoted by the World Customs Organization (WCO). This year’s theme, “Customs Bolstering Recovery, Renewal, and Resilience for a Sustainable Supply Chain,” underscores the pivotal role of Customs Administrations worldwide in steering economies towards sustained and resilient recovery.
Reflecting on the challenges of the economic issues due to slow down, Mr. Cheema remarked, “The global economy, including Pakistan, faced unprecedented disruptions, particularly in essential supply chains. Pakistan Customs ensured the uninterrupted flow of goods by maintaining operations 24/7 at key ports and border stations, while adhering strictly to preventive health measures. This commitment kept the economic engine running without compromising public safety.”
He further emphasized that Pakistan’s Customs Administration not only achieved its revenue targets despite a decline in imports but also contributed to increased exports by implementing trade facilitation policies. “At the outset of 2025, Pakistan has begun to emerge from the economic effects as one of the few countries to pull off an appropriate response. Customs’ role has been critical in ensuring an uninterrupted flow of the international supply chain while adhering to strict preventive measures,” Mr. Cheema added.
Pakistan Customs also guaranteed seamless clearance of goods at seaports, airports, dry ports, and land border stations throughout the year. Despite challenges, revenue targets assigned by the Federal Government were achieved, and trade facilitation policies contributed to the nation’s increasing exports.
Looking ahead, Mr. Cheema expressed optimism, saying, “We hope the next year continues to build on our efforts to improve service to the nation, preserving its indomitable spirit and fostering economic growth.”
The Customs Administration’s dedication, from efficient clearance of goods to implementing trade policies, has earned widespread recognition. On this World Customs Day, the focus remains on recovery, resilience, and a commitment to sustainable economic growth for Pakistan and beyond.
