Top officials exchange data of frequent flyers
LAHORE: Pakistan Customs has taken serious notice of the rising smuggling of currency and narcotics in the country.
Sources told Customs Today that in a meeting held at the Customs House Lahore, top customs officials, including DG Customs Intelligence and Investigation Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, Central Region Chief Collector of Customs Samaria Nazir Khan, Chief Collector of Customs Enforcement Karachi Muhammad Zahid and Collectors Multan Faisalabad and Director Lahore I&I reviewed the situation and evolved strategies to create deterrence against smuggling.
Sources said that the chief collector and DG exchanged the data of the frequent flyers and decided to keep an eye on their movements.
It was said that to tackle the issue of rising smuggling of currency and narcotics next meeting will be held in Islamabad with the Chief Collector North and South Regions
It is pertinent to mention here that the attempts to smuggle of huge quantity from Karachi and currency from Lahore has created shock waves among the customs circles and to overcome the issue the customs top officials are moving from pillar to post.
