LAHORE: Envoy of Dominica Emmanuel Nanthan has said that tourism, textile and steel sectors have the potential to improve two-way trade between Dominican Republic and Pakistan.
He was speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The LCCI President Almas Hyder, Senior Vice President Khawaja Shahzad Nasir and Vice President Fahim-ur-Rehman Saigal spoke on the occasion.
The ambassador said that starting business in Dominica is very easy and Pakistani businessmen can step into joint ventures with their Dominican counterparts. He said that tourism industry of Dominica is playing a key role in economic growth.
The LCCI President Almas Hyder said that close working relations between the two countries will help achieve trade and economic targets. He said that Dominica is a small island of North America and Pakistan is keen to explore its market for exports. Pakistan has a wide range of exports items and Pakistan can cater the needs of Dominican market.
He called for regular interaction among the representatives of private sectors and exchange of trade & investment related data to achieve quick results. He said that it is a best time for Dominican Republic to enhance imports from Pakistan. Khawaja Shahzad Nasir and Fahim-ur-Rehman Saigal said that northern areas of Pakistan also have huge attraction for the tourists. Both countries can work together in this particular sector. They said that Sialkot city of Pakistan is producing sports goods of finest quality.
Later, Ambassador of Cuba Gabriel Tiel Capote also had meeting with the LCCI President Almas Hyder and Cuban Ambassador also invited Pakistani businessmen to invest in various sectors of Cuban economy. He called for exchange of trade delegations and trade exhibitions.
Almas Hyder said that both countries should adopt barter trade system. He said that Pakistan has a wide range of exports and can cater to the needs of Cuban market for numerous items of daily use. Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Russia Vladimir Berezyuk also called on the LCCI President Almas Hyder and had a detailed discussion on trade and economic relations between the two countries. He pledged to make joint efforts to enhance the volume of two-way trade and to cement the economic and diplomatic relations between the two countries.
