Pakistan economy records rise of Rs45.47 trillion in five years

LAHORE: The size of Pakistan’s economy has moved upward from Rs66 trillion to Rs84.66 trillion during the last year.

The economy recorded an increase of Rs18.43 trillion during the fiscal year 23-2022.

As per the Pakistan Board of Statistics (PBS), the agriculture added 24.05 pc, industrial sector 21.68pc and services sector 54.27pc to the economy.

The size of the agriculture sector moved up by Rs4.19 trillion during the current fiscal year. The sectors total volume during the previous fiscal year 2021-22 was Rs14 trillion reaching a total of Rs19.08 trillion in the current fiscal year 2022-23.

The industrial sector has also preformed good as the sector stood at Rs13.60 trillion during the previous fiscal year 2021-22 which now touched the figure Rs17.20 trillion during the fiscal year 2022-23, exhibiting a rise of Rs3.59 trillion.

The manufacturing sector recorded 14.57pc of the total economy. The sector had a size of Rs9.19 trillion, touching the mark Rs11.56 trillion with a rise of Rs2.38 trillion during the current fiscal year 2022-23.

The service sector also performed extraordinary and stood at Rs34.77 trillion during the previous fiscal year 2021-22 that now has touched the mark Rs43.57 trillion during the current fiscal year 2022-23.

Overall, the Pakistani economy has recorded a rise of Rs45.47 trillion during the past five years.
