Pakistan elected to main policymaking organs of UNIDO

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has been elected to the main policymaking organs of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), reported Radio Pakistan.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson, announcement into this effect was made at 17th Session of the General Conference concluded in Vienna yesterday.

According to this decision, Pakistan will work in Industrial Development Board for another four years term 2018-2021 and Program and Budget Committee for two years term 2018-2019.

Pakistan’s Ambassador in Vienna Ayesha Riyaz was also elected as the Vice-President of the General Conference.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said that Pakistan ‘s election to the UNIDO policymaking organs is a further demonstration of the international community’s confidence in Pakistan ‘s credentials at multilateral fora.

He said Pakistan enjoys an excellent relationship with UNIDO and will continue cooperating with UNIDO in achieving the targets set out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
