$13.13 billion trade deficit: Pakistan exports show negative trend of 3.69% in July-Jan

LAHORE: Shortage of energy has affected the exports. The trade deficit of Pakistan remained 13.13 billion dollars as it was 11.13 billion dollars during corresponding period of last fiscal year.
Pakistan trade deficit increased up to 19.76 percent during July-January of current fiscal year while it was 13.76 percent in last fiscal year.
As per detail, Pakistan exports showed negative trend of 3.69 percent as it exported items worth Rs 14.136 billion dollars during July-January 2014-15 while it was 14.667 billion in 2013-14 during same period.
On the other hand Pakistan has imported items worth 27.266 billion dollars during July-January 2014-15 that are 5.65 percent more than the imports of last fiscal year that were 25.808 billion dollars.
Traders said that Pakistan has potential to increase its exports by eliminating the shortage of energy. They demanded for continues supply of electricity and gas to industrial units to narrow the trade deficit.
