Pakistan imports items worth Rs 1.2b from India thru Wagha in one week

LAHORE: Pakistan imported items worth Rs 1.201 billion from November 22-28 of current fiscal year from India via Wagha border, while total tax almost Rs 124.41 million was collected, according to official documents available with Customs Today.

Pakistan imported tomatoes, garlic, polyethylene, cotton, other machinery during November 22-28 from India.

Pakistan imported 11,097,910 kilo gram (Kg) tomatoes worth Rs 517 million, while Rs 31 million was generated by getting Income Tax on tomatoes import. On the other hand, garlic 10,8637 kg, worth Rs 11.25 million was imported and income tax on garlic remained Rs 0.67 million.

Documents show that Pakistan imported 579,783 kg fruits (H.S Code 709-6000) from India worth Rs 35.16 million, while the Rs 1.75 million as duty tax and income tax Rs 2.2 million was collected. Ginger worth Rs 49.5 million was imported; however duty tax Rs 7.42 million and Income Tax Rs 3.4 million was collected. Pakistan imported peas worth Rs 29 million and Rs 1.45 million was collected as duty tax and Rs 1.83 million as income tax.

Carbon dioxide was imported worth Rs 0.88 million and Pakistan Customs received duty, sales tax and income tax Rs 44,000, Rs 158,000 and Rs 60,000 respectively on the import of carbon dioxide. Pakistan imported polyethylene of Rs 12 million, besides that, Pakistan also imported cotton yarn worth Rs 27 million, cotton not comber worth Rs 20.8 million, oil-cake and other solid residues worth Rs 496 million and nonwovens worth Rs 1.05 million from India during November 22-28 of current fiscal year.

As a whole, Pakistan import stood at Rs 1.201 billion from India via Wagha Border, while total duty tax remained Rs 35.7 million, sales tax Rs 27.3 million, additional sales tax Rs 1 million and income tax Rs 60 million.
