Pakistan imports plastic grains from India worth Rs 1,719m through LFU Wagha in 10 months

LAHORE: Pakistan has imported plastic material, especially plastic grains or raw material from India through Land Freight Unit (LFU) Wagah and collected Rs 13 million duty in ten months of the fiscal year of 2015-16.

Sources told Customs Today that the Pakistan Customs collected Rs 13 million in the wake of duty and taxes on import of Indian plastic raw material. Pakistan has imported Indian plastic grains of Rs 1,719 million in first ten months of the fiscal year 2015-16.

Meanwhile, in the same period of fiscal year of 2014-15 from July 2014 to April 2015, Pakistan imported plastic material amount to Rs 685 million. During that period of the fiscal year 2014-15, the Customs Wagah collected Rs 16 million in the wake of duty taxes.

Plastic is a big import of Pakistan from Indian through Wagha and its import is increasing day by day due to low production in local markets. Most of the plastic materials demanded in Pakistani market is imported from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Kuwait. India is another market for Pakistan to import plastic materials as Indian plastic industry is far better then Pakistan.
