SIALKOT: Pakistani Ambassador to Kuwait Ghulam Dastgir has said that Pakistan intending to develop its strong bilateral trade relations with Kuwait , saying that Pakistan could have lot of opportunities to explore and capture the international trade markets of Kuwait and other Gulf countries through Kuwait.
He said that the Pakistani government was making all out sincere efforts to promote the bilateral trade between Pakistan and Kuwait, besides, removing all the hurdles, in this regard. He stated this while addressing an important meeting with Sialkot exporters held at President Office in Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here today. SCCI President Maj (Rtd) Mansur Ahmed, former VP Malik Naseer Ahmed, Mian Mohsin Gull and SCCI PRO Tajjamal Hussain were also present on this occasion.
Ghulam Dastgir added that both Pakistan and Kuwait had been enjoying the cordial trade relations and now the time was ripe to further strengthen these mutual trade ties. He asked the Sialkot exporter to divert their business activities to Kuwait, saying that the Sialkot exporters have the capabilities to explore and capture the international trade markets of Kuwait and its other neighboring countries through Kuwait by exporting their world class diversified traditional and non-traditional export products to Kuwait.
On this occasion, President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Maj (Rtd) Mansur Ahmed said that the Sialkot made products are in great demand in Kuwait, saying that there was a need to create mutual understanding between business communities to establish direct contact to improve trade. He added it was also essential that the process of trade between both the countries might be simplified.
SCCI President Maj(Rtd) Mansur Ahmed revealed that Sialkot is known all over the world for export of value added quality Sports Goods, Surgical Instruments, Leather Products, Gloves of all sorts, Textile Items, Sports Wear, Martial Arts Uniforms & Accessories, Musical Instruments, Military & Police Uniform Accessories, Highland Outfitters, Badges, Kitchen and Hollow Ware, Knives and Cutlery items etc.
He narrated that the Sialkot made footballs, field hockey sticks, cricket gear, and boxing gloves are used in international games including the Olympics and World Cups. It is the distinction of Sialkot that the hands stitched soccer balls made here have been used in World Soccer Cups, European Championships, and other International Events.
The best cricket and hockey players of the world prefer to use “Made in Sialkot” cricket bats and hockey sticks. Most of the developed countries are importing surgical instruments from Sialkot. In leather products and textile sportswear, we compete with other countries, in quality and style. The Hand Embroidered Badges and Uniform Accessories have also achieved good reputation in the international market. Similar is the case with other items produced in Sialkot, the SCCI President added.
He said that the exporters are well versed with rules, regulations and requirements of international trade, which has resulted in exports from Sialkot, being over US$ 1.8 billion annually and growing at a steady pace.
Earlier, Ghulam Dastgir visited several leading industrial units in Sialkot. He witnessed the international standard craftsmanship of Sialkot based artisans here, besides, highly hailing the unique export culture of Sialkot, in this regard.
