Pakistan, Iran reaffirm commitment to boost defence ties

ISLAMABAD: Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasserzade met with Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif in Islamabad, where the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and promoting regional peace and stability.

According to an official statement, the high-level meeting focused on mutual interests, regional security, counter-terrorism strategies, and ways to deepen defence collaboration between the two neighbouring countries.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif welcomed the visiting Iranian delegation and appreciated Iran’s continued support on issues of mutual concern. He emphasized the importance of defence diplomacy in strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations and building a more secure regional environment.

General Nasserzadeh, in turn, expressed gratitude to the government of Pakistan for its warm hospitality and reaffirmed Iran’s desire to develop defence ties based on mutual respect, shared values, and trust.
