ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Kuwait Investment Company announced that it has donated Rs 10 million in the Prime Minister’s coronavirus relief fund, said a statement issued by the development financial institution.

The company, which is a joint venture between the Pakistani and Kuwaiti governments, appreciated the initiative of raising finances taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan to help support the poor and underprivileged people of the country amid the coronavirus crisis. Earlier this month, Prime Minister Imran Khan’s coronavirus relief fund crossed Rs3 billion mark. The fund was set up last month to deal with the ongoing health crisis that has shattered the economy.

PM Imran had appealed the citizens to send their tax-deductible donation to account number 4162 786 786 set up at the main branch of National Bank of Pakistan in Karachi.

Labelling this an unprecedented initiative and putting stock in people’s charitable spirits, the prime minister had said that Pakistanis donate like no other nation in the world. He recalled earthquakes and floods which had wreaked much damage in the country but put no dent in people’s willingness to help.
