Pakistan needs proactive trade diplomacy to enhance exports’

LAHORE: Convener of FPCCI (Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry) Regional Committee on Food Shahid Imran stated this in a meeting with south Punjab’s food exporters delegation led by Zia Ur Rehman here Sunday.

Shahid Imran stressed that Pakistan must actively engage with international partners through trade missions, bilateral agreements, and participation in global exhibitions to secure new markets for its products.

He continued that food sector holds immense export potential, particularly in processed foods, agricultural commodities, and value-added products, which can significantly increase foreign exchange earnings.

FPCCI Food Committee Convener urged the policymakers to facilitate exporters by simplifying regulations, ensuring policy consistency, and providing incentives for innovation and quality improvement.

He further highlighted the importance of strengthening trade relations with emerging economies and regional markets to diversify export destinations. By adopting a coordinated and forward-looking trade diplomacy strategy, he said, Pakistan can improve competitiveness, attract investment and achieve sustainable export-led economic growth in the years ahead.
