KARACHI: Overseas workers sent $3.1 billion in remittances to Pakistan in August 2025, according to data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The amount marked a 7% year-on-year (YoY) increase, compared to $2.9 billion in August 2024. However, remittances were down 2% on a monthly basis from $3.2 billion in July 2025.
Remittances remain crucial to Pakistan’s economy, supporting the external account and bolstering the incomes of remittance-dependent households.
The highest inflow came from Saudi Arabia, where expatriates sent $737 million in August, marking an 11% decrease from July but a 3% YoY increase compared to $713 million in August 2024.
Remittances from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) saw a significant rise, increasing by 19% YoY to $643 million in August 2025.
The UK contributed $463 million, reflecting a 3% increase from July 2025, although YoY inflows from the UK dropped by 2%.
