During the same period last year, the number of income tax return filers stood at more than 5.2 million.

Under the tax scheme for small traders and shopkeepers, 1,473 traders have filed their returns.

Of these, 137 were new participants and 1,336 were existing traders registered under the scheme.

Meanwhile, 2,875 shopkeepers have registered for the tax scheme, according to the reported figures.

The latest numbers provide an indication of tax return filing activity, although the figures alone do not establish how much additional revenue has been collected or how much the country’s overall tax base has expanded.
