Pakistan to keep borders with Iran, Afghanistan closed for two more weeks

QUETTA: Pakistan has decided to keep its borders in Balochistan with Iran and Afghanistan closed for two more weeks in the wake of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Trade and all other activities at Taftan border with Iran and Chaman border with Afghanistan have been suspended completely. The volunteer return of the Afghan migrants is also held off.

The return of Pakistani pilgrims from Iran through Taftan continues in steps. The pilgrims are kept at the Pakistani House and under quarantine for screening and are only allowed to leave once they are tested negative for the virus.

It is pertinent here to mention that complete screening systems at the borders have been provided by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
