Pakistan to lay rail track to enhance trade with Afghanistan: Dastagir

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan on Thursday said that a railway track will be laid very soon in order to increase trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The minister visited Torkham border and inspected customs office, Michani post and border in the area. Collector Customs Qurban Ali Khan also accompanied the federal minister during his visit to Pakistan Afghanistan border area. Political Agent Khyber Agency Khalid Maqbool briefed the minister over the Torkham border.
Dastagir said he had also informed the Afghan side about Pakistan’s efforts to operationalise its railway for the Afghan cargo’s transit to carry 400 containers of Afghan cargo to Torkham and Chaman border points. He said that a dry fort and a well-equipped terminal will be built at Torkham border.
