Pakistan to support Palestine for WTO observer status: Dastgir

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Commerce Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan has assured Palestinian Minister for National Economy Abeer Odeh of Pakistan’s support to Palestine for WTO observer status.

Both the minister met on the sidelines of 10th WTO Ministerial Conference in Nairobi, Kenya. Khurram Dastgir also delivered Pakistan’s country statement in the conference, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce.

Dastgir held meetings with the Minister of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia Mustafa Muhammad and discussed and review of Free Trade Agreement between Pakistan and Malaysia. They also agreed to enhance business to business interaction and support each other on issues of mutual interest in the World Trade Organization (WTO). He also met Vice Minister for Commerce of Thailand Winchai Chaemchaeng on the sidelines of conference and agreed to speed up the process of negotiations on FTA between the two countries.

The minister also held meetings with the participating ministers of Germany, Turkey, Rwanda and Agricultural Facilitator of the Conference and exchanged views on WTO negotiations and bilateral trade.
