FAISALABAD: Faisal Rashid, Mayor of Warrington (UK), paid a brief visit to Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) and discussed various issues relating to the bilateral relations.
He informed Customs Today that he has been elected from a city in which there are only two percent Pakistanis. Faisal Rashid is an expatriate Pakistani, belonging to Faisalabad. He had been living in Warrington for the last many years and is now actively playing his role in the overall development of this city. He has been elected for this prestigious office only due to his excellent community services.
Faisal Rahid said he is trying to promote bilateral trade between Faisalabad and Warrington in addition to promoting community level relations between the two cities. He also expressed satisfaction over the election of two engineers for the representative trade body of Faisalabad (FCCI). He also hoped that the elders of two cities will take measures to exchange delegations. “It will help Faisalabad to enhance its exports to Warrington in addition to understanding the role of local community of Warrington.
Earlier, Engineer Muhammad Saeed Sheikh, President FCCI, welcomed Faisal Rashid and said it is very encouraging that he has been elected purely on merit by the majority of local communities other than Pakistanis. He added that previous Mayor had generated funds of only 6000 pounds while Faisal Rashid set a new record of collecting more than 56000 pounds for the uplift of Warrington. He also briefed him about the social corporate responsibilities and said the FCCI members are generously playing their due role in the health and education sectors.
President Engineer Muhammad Saeed Sheikh also presented an FCCI shield to Faisal Rashid while Faisal Rashid also gave away a special memento of Warrington to VP Engineer Ahmad Hasan.
