Pakistani community helps man pay Dh200,000 blood money in UAE

Dubai : The Pakistani community came forward to pay Dh200,000 diya (blood money) of a young man who died in a car accident last month.

The 21-year-old Pakistani Abdul Rehman died in a car accident while four of his Pakistani friends sustained serious injuries after the car they were travelling veered off and flipped several times on the mountainous area of Ras Al Khaimah.

The deceased, who was a visitor in the UAE, was returning with four friends after camping in Ras Al Khaimah when the unfortunate incident took place on December 14. The deceased’s body was flown back to Pakistan last month following the completion of procedures, while the injured are undergoing treatment.

The Ras Al Khaimah court ordered the friend, who was driving the vehicle, to pay Dh200,000 diya (blood money) to the deceased’s relatives as well as the traffic fines.

Around 10 Pakistani community members – friends and relatives – came forward to arrange the money which was deposited at the Ras Al Khaimah Court on Thursday.
