ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani delegation expects high sale at the ‘Made in Pakistan Pavilion at International Trade Expo (ITEX)’ starting from today (Thursday) in Indian city of Amritsar.

The five-day ITEX is very popular among the city residents because it exposes them to national and international commodities and other products. The PHD Chamber organizes it as the International Trade Expo at Amritsar – ITEX -15.

This will be the 10th edition of the International Expo in Amritsar. As in the past, the Indian Punjab government will host this mega event. The ITEX has emerged as one of the most popular exhibitions of north India and it has been instrumental in promoting international trade and facilitating growth of the local economy

The expo, ITEX , is being organized in the Ranjit Avenue area and expo will continue till December 07 and a fifty member delegation of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) lead by is leaving for India to participate in this expo” the leader of the delegation Khurshid Barlas told this scribe here on Wednesday.

Although this time tune of the participants from Pakistan is significantly smaller as compared to the previous year, however, we have high expectations of higher sale of our products” he said reasoning that Indian customers and buyers are very fond of Pakistani products due to delicacy and refined quality of products therefore Indians continue waiting for arrival of Pakistani products in the said expo for the whole year.

When asked about possible expectations of overall turnout of Pakistani companies, Barlas observed that he was optimistic of total sale of Rs 10 million from this expo. Moreover, such expos also prove to be very good means for the publicity and showcasing of our products tantamount of exploration of new markets.

Over 400 companies, manufacturers, producers and others are participating this year in this expo and this time number of slightly lower just because of prevailing tension between both the countries on border and other issues.

The show creates an annual platform where the global and the local industry showcases its products and promotes brands. Last year, the Expo received over two lakh visitors. Exhibitors from various parts of India and 10 more countries, Pakistan, Thailand, Iran, Egypt, UAE, South Africa, Vietnam, Australia, Afghanistan and Nepal participated in the Expo.
