Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves rise by $14m to $22.5b

KARACHI: Pakistan’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves increased by $14 million during the week ended August 7, 2026, reaching $22.498 billion, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The country’s total reserves stood at $22.484 billion a week earlier.

The SBP’s reserves increased by $4 million during the week, rising from $17.043 billion to $17.057 billion.

Meanwhile, foreign exchange reserves held by commercial banks increased by $10 million, reaching $5.441 billion.

The latest figures show that Pakistan’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves are currently equivalent to around 2.5 months of import cover.

The modest increase provides some stability to the country’s external position as Pakistan continues to manage its foreign exchange requirements and external financing needs.
