LONDON: Panasonic launched what it calls its first line of value-priced Ultra HD 4K TVs and rolling them out to a variety of retailers after having focused TVs sales nearly exclusively through Best Buy for about two years. The new series of 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs will be available beginning in December at retailers including ABC Warehouse, Brandsmart U.S.A., Curacao, Electronic Express, RC Willey, and Video Only. More retailers will be announced at a later date. All CX Series models feature built-in Smart TV apps and Wi-Fi connectivity for easy access to streaming movies, music and other online content. “Panasonic has a rich history and expertise in delivering category-leading HD and 4K/Ultra HD TVs to consumers”, explained Panasonic Consumer Electronics president Julie Bauer. Elsewhere you can pick up the 55-inch 4K LED Smart 3D TV for £599, while the curved-screen version can be nabbed for £799. Based in Newark, NJ, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company is a division of Panasonic Corporation of North America, the principal North American subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation. The Panasonic CX Series of 4K Ultra HD TVs feature a sleek, super-slim black (CX400) or silver matte (CX420) bezel display created to maximize total viewing area. Note that prices listed on the Panasonic shop website as this was posted were showing slightly higher. All of the new CX400 and CX420 models have direct-lit LED LCD panels with native 3840×2160 pixel resolution. With the touch of a button on the remote, the CX Series features instant access to included Smart TV apps for popular online content providers including Netflix, YouTube, Toon Goggles, Pandora and AccuWeather. One of these years big-ticket items this Black Friday and holiday season will be 4K UHD TVs. The product literature also fails to mention if any of the HDMI inputs (the number of which are not mentioned) will support HDCP 2.2 content protection. We are particularly anxious to see if the company will bring to the United States the very interesting 4K Ultra HD OLED TV it showed at IFA in Berlin last fall.
