LISBON: The government socialist party, PS, opposition parties PSD and CDS-PP have voted together against a proposal from the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) recommending that the government raise the National Minimum Wage to €600 per month as of January.
The Left Bloc party, the PEV and the single member of the PAN party voted in favour of the measure.The proposal from the PSD party to update the Minimum Wage in line with “growth, competitiveness and employment,” in a “wider context” of “combatting inequality and poverty to ensure and promote social peace and development,” which gave no figures or dates, was also “rejected.”
