ISLAMABAD: A parliamentary delegation led by Federal Parliamentary Secretary on Finance, Economic Affairs, Revenues and Privatization Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan left for Kashgar, China on a 10-day visit to find ways to enhance further economic cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The delegation will visit Kashgar Special Economic Zone, and hold meeting with leaders of the Kashgar Government.
During its stay in Urumqi, the Capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the delegation comprising members of national assembly and media, would meet leaders of the government.
In Beijing, the delegation will hold separate meetings with Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Ministry of China, Liu Jianchao, Leader of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs and attend a seminar titled Afghanistan Situation and Counter-Terrorism.
During the stay in Shanghai, the delegation will visit the Pudong Economic Zone and Shaghai Free Trade Zone and hold meeting with the officials of the Shanghai government.
Speaking at a reception hosted for the parliamentary delegation, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Sun Weidong said that the visit of parliamentary delegation would help enhance people-to-people contact and provide an opportunity to Pakistani parliamentarians to witness latest development in Chinese cities.
The Chinese Ambassador said that his country wants to develop friendly relations with all neighbouring countries. He said that China has close cultural connections and historical bonds with Pakistan, adding that the visit would further strengthen all weather and time-tested Sino-Pak friendship.
He said the delegation, after having close interaction with Chinese leadership would have much better understanding of China.
Speaking on the occasion, Rana Muhammd Afzal thanked the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad for organizing the visit for the parliamentarians. The interest showed by China in cultivating friendly relations with Pakistan is remarkable, he added.
