PCA detects Rs 215m duty, tax evasion on import of Zinc Sulphate

LAHORE: Directorate of Post Clearance Audit PCA Lahore has claimed to detect over Rs 215 million duty and tax evasion on import of Zinc Sulphate 33 percent by 31 importer companies, official documents available with the Customs Today revealed.

As per details, the companies which reportedly evaded taxes and duties are Suncrop Pesticides Dera Ghazi Khan, Sungro Chemicals, Dera Ghazi Khan Jullunder Pvt Ltd, Akbari Store, Jodi Bazar Karachi, Four Brothers Agriculture Services Pakistan, Lahore Centre Gulberg, Hexon Chemicals, Imperial Argo Sciences, Johar Town Lahore, Ghazi Brothers Karachi, Royal Chemicals, Karachi, Four Brothers Biological AG Pakistan, Gulberg Lahore, Well Wisher Argo Chemical, Sher Shah Town, Multan and M/S BA Traders Chouburgi, Lahore.

Similarly, Al Meharan Chemicals, Multan Cantt, Alpha Chemicals Company Johar Bazar, Karachi, M/s Chemium Innovation , Karachi, Hamayun Chamicals Circular Road, Lahore, S Esa Agro, Agri Force Chamical, Dera Ghazi Khan, Essa Fertichem, , Karachi, UM Enterprizes, Karachi, Tara Crop Science, Johar Town Lahore, Muhammad Shahzad Qaiser, Karachi, Abdul Haseeb Chemical, Dera Ghazi Khan, Millstone Enterprises, Islamabad, Ibrahim International, Lahore Arrow International Lahore, MS Grace Chemical, Lahore, Chempak Imports, Circular Road Lahore and Greengage International, Gulberg-III, Lahore are also included in the companies that imported the chemical and objected by the PCA Lahore directorate.

The PCA observed that the companies imported consignment of the aforesaid impugned goods which were prima facie are fertilizers and as such not entitled for the exemption of customs duty and sales tax under the said SROs during calendar year 2014.

The PCA said that the mis-declaration resulted in the duty and taxes evasion to the tune of Rs 215 million and added that it is directed that the above mentioned short paid amount of duty and taxes may be deposited positively.

The directorate said that in case of disagreement with the audit observations, the company may provide a written clarification along with supporting documents including goods declaration, commercial Performa invoice, L/C invoices, packing list contract purchase order and other relevant documents within the stipulated time.

The detection was done by the PCA Lahore on the directions of Director Ahmad Rauf under the supervision of deputy director Amara Durrani by the team consisting of appraiser Imran, auditor Atique and other led by superintendent Rauf Qureshi.
