PCA detects two cases of tax evasion worth Rs 7.23m in five days of October

KARACHI: Directorate of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) Director Nadeem Memon has shown excellent performance and detected two new cases of tax evasions involving Rs 7.23 million in first five days of October.

Sources told Customs Today that Directorate of Post Clearance Audit, headed by Director Nadeem Memon, uncovered cases pertaining to short payment of customs duty and sales tax and withholding tax. In some cases, inadmissible concessions in additional sales tax, federal excise duty and income tax were availed.

The directorate served one contravention report and one observation during the first five days of October involving total duty and taxes of Rs 7.23 million. The companies served audit observations or contravention are M/s Fatima Mukhtar Corporation, and M/s Jabbar Garments.

Director Post Clearance Audit (PCA) Nadeem Memon directed all the relevant officials and teams to expedite their efforts to recover the outstanding amount from defaulters.

It is necessary to mention here that the Directorate of Post Clearance Audit is using all available resources to detect cases involving tax evasion and mis-declaration. The directorate served four contravention reports and six observations during last 8 days of September involving total duty and taxes of Rs10.12million. The companies served audit observations or contravention M/s Zafar Brothers and M/s Noshad and Company.

Directorate of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) detected sixteen cases in the month of September and collect tax evasion involving revenue of Rs 32.45 million. Source said three cases (customs duty and sales tax/ and withholding tax) are under observation.
