PCA sends Sumaira Fertilizers Company’s case to Adjudication Department

KARACHI: Post Clearance Audit (PCA) Karachi has detected a tax evasion case of Rs 2.6 million by Sumaira Fertilizers Company. The PCA department forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication Department.

Sources told Customs Today that Sumaira Fertilizers Company availed undue benefits and concessions through SRO No. 575 and cleared 38 consignments of stainless steel pipes, machinery spare parts, steel pipes and multi load electricity gadgets. Sources said that the company also paid 5 percent less duty and tax on clearance of the consignments.

Sources said tha Sumaira Fertilizers Company imported all those items which are manufactured by locally so there is no concession on import of such items. But Sumaira Fertilizers Company availed undue benefits and concessions through using SRO No. 575 and caused a loss of Rs 2.6 million to national kitty.

After detecting the above said tax evasion Directorate of Post Clearance Audit authorities issued a final show cause notice to the management of Sumaira Fertilizers Company for payment of short paid amount.
