PCA issues Rs 18.8 million audit observation against BSN Medical in import of Calcium Sulphate

 KARACHI: The Customs Post Clearance Audit (PCA) Karachi has issued Rs 18.8 million audit observation against M/s BSN Medical (Private) Limited for taking illegal benefits by mis-declaration under  PCT 2520.1010.

The scrutiny of import data revealed that M/s BSN Medical imported various consignments of Calcium Sulphate, Pharmaceutical Grade, cleared from MCC-Appraisement West and MCC Appraisement East through their clearing agents by mis-declaring goods under the PCT 2520.1010 attracting customs duty at 10 percent whereas the goods are correctly classifiable under PCT heading 2520.2000 chargeable to customs duty at 15 percent.

Thus M/s BSN Medical by mis-declaration of classification have evaded/short paid customs duty of Rs 3.4 million, sales tax Rs 13.9 million and IT Rs 1.4 million total Rs 18.8 million..

Therefore, M/s.BSN Medical  is requested to pay above mentioned short paid amount of duty/taxes within 10 days of receipt of audit observation.

In case the importer is of the opinion that audit observation is not correct you are requested to provide self explanatory written clarification along with supporting documents on or before 2.9.2015. In case importer wish to explain your position in person or through duly authorized representative, the importer is requested to visit the office of undersigned on any working day during office hours.
