ISLAMABAD: Directorate General of Post Clearance Audit Headquarters has ordered to seize six prime movers imported by a construction company, H Ali, through Lahore dry port on the charges of smuggling, fiscal fraud and mis-declaration.

The PCA could not take the movers into custody physically so it wrote letter to senior manager of National Logistic Cell Containers Terminal located at Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore to seize the same. The directorate also directed that the said items will not be released or moved until further orders.

As per details, Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement, Lahore had released the movers against Goods Declaration No 9329 under Para 5 (ii) and 9 of Import Policy Order 2013/2016.

The PCA issued two notices on September 20 and 21, 2016 to accused company under Section 168 and 170 of the Customs Act, 1969 stating that the directorate has found discrepancies in clearance of the items and violation of Section 32, 2 (s) and 32 (a), which fall in the category of smuggling, fiscal fraud and mis-declaration.

Therefore, the PCA using its authority has ordered to seize the prime movers under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969.

Sources said that the matter seemed highly sensitive, as tax evasion of millions of rupees by construction companies would be unveiled during the investigation. The sources said that investigation report will be prepared in upcoming days.

Meanwhile, PCA Director General Nadir Khan Hoti has directed the authorities concerned to perform their duties of unearthing the crime without taking care of any pressure.
