PCG busts huge quantity of smuggled betel nuts worth millions of rupees

KARACHI: Pakistan Coast Guard (PCG) has unearthed huge quantity of smuggled contraband goods including Betel Nuts and foreign origin cigarettes worth millions of rupees in the international market.

According to the details, on the tip of higher authority Brigadier Sajid Sikandar Raja of the Pakistan Coast Guard directed the commanding officers to beef up the security and surveillance over the received information regarding smuggling.

During the surveillance the officers of the Pakistan Coast Guard (PCG) on suspicion directed the staff to inquiry hidden in goods in the area of Baghicheo near Winder. Over the authentication of the staff the officers of the Pakistan Coast Guard (PCG) conducted raid and recovered huge quantity of smuggled Betel nuts and foreign origin cigarettes.

The spokesman of the Pakistan Coast Guard (PCG) informed Custom Today that the recovered smuggled Betel Nuts is weighting to nineteen tons, during the raid thousands of foreign origin cigarettes and Indian Gutka have also been recovered which worth millions of rupees in the international market.

The said smuggled contraband goods have arrived from the land routes of the Balochistan and it was being dumped near Winder so that it can be sent to the different parts of the country.

In another raid near super highway the officers managed to apprehend twelve ton of smuggled Betel Nuts from the truck during the raid one culprit has also been busted. Legal proceedings are underway.
