PCG recovers 1,000 kgs hashish worth Rs 70 million near Pasni airport‏

KARACHI: The Pakistan Coast Guards has seized 1,000 kilograms of fine quality hashish in the vicinity of Pasni airport.

According to spokesman, Major (r) Zafar Ahmed formed a special mobile team for snap checking after receiving information that attempts will be made to smuggle narcotics in general area of Pasni airport.

During the process of checking, PCG official spotted a suspicious Land Cruiser. On challenging, drug traffickers started firing. After exchange of fire. The drug traffickers managed to flee from the scene taking advantage of darkness, leaving the vehicle behind.

During search of the vehicle, PCG officials recovered 1000 kilograms of hashish from hidden cavities (under the fitted seats) of Land Cruiser. The hidden consignment of hashish was likely to be transported to Middle East. Hashish along with Land Cruiser were taken into custody. Approximate value of seized consignment is Rs 70 million in international market.

Further investigation and legal process is underway.
