MULTAN: The Pakistan MULTAN: Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) convened its annual general body meeting, which was attended by prominent figures including Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Aatif Ikram Sheikh, Senior Vice President FPCCI Saqib Fayaz, and former minister and UBG Chairman S.M. Tanveer. The meeting focused on critical issues facing the ginning industry and strategies for enhancing cotton production in the country.
In his address, newly elected Chairman Dr. Jasumal emphasized the significance of PCGA as a major trade organization that plays a crucial role in the national economy and development. He assured members that the association would earnestly address the issues faced by the ginner community.
Dr. Jasumal stated, “Our initiatives to boost the production of white gold (cotton) are starting to show positive results. We are committed to regaining cotton’s lost position in the coming years.”
Former Chairman Chaudhry Waheed Arshad highlighted his efforts for the survival and revival of the ginning industry, asserting, “The movement to motivate farmers to increase cotton production has been successful.”mer Chairman Haji Muhammad Akram called the unopposed victory of PCGA officials and Central Executive Committee members a testament to unity within the organization. Malik Talat Suhail remarked on the importance of consensus in the unopposed election of members and officials, stating it serves the best interests of the ginner community.
Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani affirmed the commitment to work collaboratively to resolve tax issues and restore cotton crops, while also contributing to the development of the ginning industry.
During the meeting, newly elected officials, including Senior Vice Chairman Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, Vice Chairman Muhammad Ashfaq Ramay, and Raja Ramesh Kumar Tuwani, took their oaths of office. The meeting was attended by a significant number of former chairpersons and senior members, reinforcing PCGA’s strong presence and ongoing dedication to serving the ginner community.
