WARSAW: Poland’s national air carrier LOT attracted attention of a potential investor, private equity fund Indigo Partners, a shareholder of budget airline WizzAir, Puls Biznesu daily reports.
Indigo Parners wants to capitalize LOT by buying new shares in the firm and wants to invest in it, in different forms, several hundred million zloty, a person familiar with the matter told the daily. The company wants Warsaw to become an airline hub for the CEE region. The letter of intent between the fund and the Treasury was signed in June, but talks are still underway.
The privatization process might be complicated by dismissal of LOT CEO Sebastian Mikosz. Signals appear that the Treasury may want him to resign after LOT cancelled several flights in June due to IT system problems.
