SYDNEY: It’s also compatible with both Android and iOS, so no matter which device platform you’ve chosen as your daily driver, Pebble Time doesn’t discriminate and will sync up with both. We saw first shipments head out directly to backers more than a few weeks ago, but this marks the first time you can actually walk into a store and out with a shiny new Pebble Time. Target’s availability will begin the week of August 17th.
The color display is always on and it’s customizable thanks to the collection of thousands of watch faces, and it’s also sporting a water resistance of up to 30 meters so you can take it with you in the shower, or on a swim if you feel so inclined.
Using the companion Pebble Time app, wearers can customize their watch and add a number of watchfaces and other apps. If it’s going to replicate the success of the Pebble and Pebble Steel, which sold over a million units, it’s going to need the support of third-party retailers. It appears that some Best Buy locations even jumped the gun in the past few days and started putting the Time out on shelves this weekend – hopefully the official announcement will result in better in-store displays than we’ve seen so far.
After launching their Kickstarter back in February, the Pebble Time is now officially available to all through various retail channels like Best Buy and (Target August 17th).
