HONG KONG: People who always wanted to take part in fossil discovery can now fulfill their dreams by being part of ‘citizen science’ project and search ancient fossils in East Africa. They can discover ancient fossils while staying at home.
Anthropologists and archaeologists are going to launch a new website that will allow interested individuals to locate ancient fossils in the Turkana Basin of Kenya. The website will offer a number of photographs of the region. In those high-resolution aerial pictures, people can look for remains of animals and humans. People can mark anything they think are ancient remains.
Adrian Evans, citizen science project manager at Bradford University, said the project is exciting which provides a chance to enthusiasts who want to be part of an ancient discovery, but cannot visit remote locations. The project will allow people find new fossils in remote areas, Evans added.
