TEHRAN: State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina said it expects to receive on September 26 first shipment of liquified petroleum gas (LPG) from its Iranian counterpart the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). “We have signed the agreement and the first LPG shipment from Iran to Indonesia is scheduled for September 26 to 27,” Pertamina Senior Vice President Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Daniel Purba said Wednesday at Pertamina Headquarters in Jakarta.
Daniel said Pertamina needs LGP supply from Iran to meet high demand for the commodity in Indonesia. Indonesia and Iran signed in August a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that covers LPG sales for 2016 and 2017. As many as 44,000 metric tons (MT) of LPG, comprising 22,000 MT propane (C3) and 22,000 butane (C4), will be shipped on the said dates.
According to the ISC data, Pertamina has not seen significant fluctuations in LPG imports in the past few months, i.e. 352 million tons from July to September. It will jump to 396 million tons after the import from Iran. Earlier, Pertamina president director Dwi Soetjipto and NIOC managing director Ali Kardor signed an MoU to conduct preliminary study on Iran’s two giant oil fields: Ab-Teymour and Mansouri (Bangestan-Asmari).
