Peshawar ASO seizes smuggled goods, non duty paid vehicles worth Rs794.597m from July to October 2016-17

ISLAMABAD: Anti Smuggling Squad (ASO) Peshawar seized smuggled goods and vehicle under value of Rs.794.597 million during July to October 2016-17.

Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Peshawar Zakir Muhammad told Customs Today that Collector Qurban Ali Khan has given appreciating remarks on performance of ASO during four months of financial year (FY) 2016-17.

He added that during the month of October, ASO seized many smuggled goods, non duty paid vehicles and offending vehicles under jurisdiction of Customs Peshawar, he added that ASO collected a revenue of Rs238.921 million by seizing these goods and vehicles.

Deputy collector said that during month of September FY2016-17 performance of ASO was satisfactory and they successfully thwarted many attempts of smuggling and impounded many non duty paid vehicles. He said that ASO collected Rs 141.521 million during the above said period.

Zakir said that during the month of August, ASO showed outstanding performance and seized goods under value of Rs.255.632 million.

He added that during month of July, ASO Peshawar again showed good performance to curb smuggling trends and collected revenue through confiscated non duty paid and smuggled goods under value of Rs.158.523 million.

Zakir said that Customs Collectorate Peshawar under the supervision of Collector Qurban Ali Khan is using all available resources to curb smuggling attempts in the region.
