Peshawar ASU seizes 190 bags of coal, vehicle worth Rs39.6m

PESHAWAR: Collectorate of Customs anti-smuggling unit of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa customs foiled another bid to smuggle 190 bags of coal worth Rs39.6 million from Daraband Road DI Khan.

Sources told Customs Today that credible information was received that a truck loaded with betel nuts and crushed coal will pass through Dera Ismail Khan. Pursuing the information, the Customs anti-smuggling squad enhanced checking on Darabadn Road. The customs team intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no: TAC-774 Lasbella. During checking of vehicle anti-smuggling unit recovered190 bags of betel nuts each bag with 75 kg weight, having a total weight of 14250 kilograms.

Estimated value of betel nuts is Rs35.625 million while value of truck no TAC 774 Lasbella is Rs 4 million. Grand total of the seizure is Rs39.625 million.

Earlier a big attempt of smuggling betel nuts was foiled when a truck loaded with fresh onions was checked and betel nuts were recovered.  DI Khan ASU in last seven days foiled second attempt of smuggling of betel nuts.
