PESHAWAR: A special court for control of narcotics has convicted a person of smuggling narcotics and sentenced him to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs 200,000.
Judge Shahid Khan observed that the evidence on record was enough for conviction of the accused, Mohammad Shahid, and the prosecution had proved its case against the accused.
A special prosecutor of Anti-Narcotics Force, Sher Afgan Khattak, stated that the accused was travelling in a car when ANF personnel stopped him near Hayatabad Chowk on Jamrud Road. He added that the ANF team had recovered 20 kilogrammes of charas which was concealed in the doors and seats of the car.
He stated that the accused was charged under Section 9-C of Control of Narcotics Substance Act, 1997. He contended that the accused was caught red-handed while smuggling the contraband to Punjab from Peshawar.
