Peshawar Customs foils bid to smuggle cloth & tea to Punjab

PESHAWAR: Anti-Smuggling Unit of Customs Collectorate thwarted major bid of smuggling of cloth and tea to Punjab via Peshawar on Tuesday during a crackdown.

Sources told Customs Today, that Deputy Collector Anti-Smuggling Najeeb Arjumand received tip off information regarding smuggling of cloth, tea and cigarette worth milling of rupees and raided various godown in Peshawar. They seized huge quantity of cloth and tea, and cigarette and shifted the seized goods to Customs House Peshawar.

Deputy Collector Najeeb Arjmand said that the crackdown would further be intensified to generate handsome amount of revenue against tax evaders. He said that no concession would be given to the responsible persons.

It is necessary to mention here that Collectorate of Customs Peshawar adopted a comprehensive strategy to curb smuggling attempts in the region. Due to effective measures there is marginable decrease is being witnessed in the smuggling attempts.
