Peshawar Customs foils bid to smuggle huge quantity of narcotics

PESHAWAR: Customs officials foiled a smuggling bid and seized a huge cache of heroin and 26 kilogrammes of hashish from a truck at the Torkham Customs Station.

The officials arrested the alleged smugglers, who were identified as Behram Khan, Bashir Khan and Gauhar Ali.

An official of Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar told this scribe that the market value of the seized heroin is Rs 15 million, while the value of seized hashish is Rs 2 million. The officials also impounded the truck worth Rs 1 million, which was being used to smuggle the narcotics.

Torkham Custom Station Assistant Collector Umair Mehmood Saddiqi received information that an attempt would be made to smuggled narcotics from Afghanistan to Pakistan via Custom Station Torkham. He formed a team to foil the attempt and stopped a truck bearing registration number 9367-AJK, from which the narcotics were recovered.
