Peshawar Customs generates revenue of Rs1427.74m during August

PESHAWAR: Collectorate of Customs collected Rs1427.74 million under head of various taxes and customs duty in August 2019 against target of Rs1819.7 million, recording a shortfall of 21.54 percent.

Under head of customs duty, the Collectorate collected Rs575.89 million against the target of Rs799.20 million with a difference of minus 32.30 percent while the difference in rupees was recorded Rs224 million. Under head of sale tax, the Collectorate collected Rs643.43 million against the target of Rs592.70 million with a shortfall of minus 17.32 percent.

Under head of withholding tax, the Collectorate generated Rs372.02 million against Rs415.40 target which was 04 percent less than the target while the difference in rupees was Rs43 million.

Under head of federal excise duty, the Collectorate collected Rs5.51 million against the target of Rs12 million with a difference of minus 82.98 percent.

The overall collection remained low as compared to previous month and same period of last year. The house is now mulling different options to increase revenue generation, however, it will take time after resumption of night operations at Torkham border to improve the collection process.
