ISLAMABAD: Customs collectorate Peshawar’s Hazara station collected revenue of Rs72.92 million during first two months of financial year 2016-17. This collection is made under heads of customs duty, sales tax and federal excise duty, including additional taxes from July to August, 2016-17.
Sources of MCC Peshawar told Customs Today that performance of this seasonal customs station (Hazara) remained below as compared to July-August 2015-16.
Sources said that Hazara collected Rs 22.75 million as customs duty including withholding surcharge, regulatory duty, federal excise duty and other surcharges. During the same period of financial year 2015-16, the Hazara station collected Rs 92.12 million as customs duty including withholding surcharge, regulatory duty, federal excise duty and other surcharges.
In period of July-August 2016-17, Hazara station collected sales tax on palm oil valued at Rs 34.08 million as compared to Rs 115.79 million sales taxes collected in corresponding months of FY 2015-16.
Similarly, Hazara station collected advance income tax (AIT) of Rs13.59 million in months of July and August 2017 while Rs 50.98 million was collected during the same first two months last year.
Sources said that during July-August 2016-17, the Hazara station collected total duty and taxes including federal excise duty of Rs 72.92 million while in the same period of financial year 2015-16 the Hazara customs seasonal station collected Rs 281.11 million.
