Peshawar Customs impounds smuggled cloth near Karkhano Market worth Rs60m

PESHAWAR: Collectorate of Customs Collectorate Preventive team recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid cloth near Karkhano Market.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Preventive Asif Saeed Khan received information about the presence of huge quantity of non-duty paid goods upon which deputy collector anti-smuggling unit was made in charge to take action against the smugglers on non-duty paid cloth.

Deputy Collector Najib Arjumand conducted a raid which was carried out upon suspicious information about safe houses of non-duty paid goods. The customs squad raided and impounded several trucks loaded with non-duty paid cloth worth Rs60 million.

The deputy collector further informed that after Collector Customs Asif Saeed Khan took over the charge, he directed to eliminate the known safe heavens for storage of non-duty paid cloth.

The deputy collector added that a team consisted of Customs inspectors and superintendents along with sepoys was constituted for conducting raid upon godowns containing non-duty paid goods at Karkhano market well-known for import and export of illegal goods.

The Customs squad was also accompanied by local police of Peshawar. The Deputy Collector said it is a huge seizure of non-duty paid cloth during current month.
