Peshawar Customs Inspector Sajidullah ‘punished’ over inefficiency

ISLAMABAD: Sajidullah, a Pakistan Customs Inspector, has been given minor penalty of withholding of two increments over inefficiency.

As per details, the disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the officer, presently posted as Inspector at Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar, under Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973.

Ziaullah Shams, Additional Director, Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR, Peshawar, was appointed as inquiry officer to probe into the charges on account of various acts of omission and commission committed by the accused officer constituting ‘inefficiency’, ‘misconduct’ and ‘corruption’. According to the inquiry report, the charge of ‘inefficiency’ was established against the accused officer.

A show-cause notice was issued to the accused officer on July 13 and he was also called for personal hearing by the authorized officer on August 10. After considering the charges framed in the charge sheet, inquiry report, personal hearing and other available record, the accused officer was found guilty of ‘inefficiency’ under rules 3(a) of the Government Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 1973.

The authorised officer imposed minor penalty of ‘withholding of two increment without cumulative effect’ upon Sajidullah under rule 4(1)(a)(ii) of the Govt Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973.

The official stands re-instated into service with immediate effect and his period of suspension with effect from November 20, 2015 till date will be treated as leave of kind due as admissible under the rules. His performance allowance will be stopped for six months from the date of award of the above minor penalty as provided in Para 7(ii) of the Performance Allowance Guidelines, 2015 and he will have to appear afresh for restoration of the same.
